What you will do:
You will be creating metrics, generating reports and providing insights to different parts of the business. Your role is to lead the development of analytical processes aiming to address complex business questions. You will need to scope and define the analysis and requirements in the context of the question at hand and the firm’s data and build the analytical process in a structured and reusable way (e.g., automated workflows using the latest firm-provided tools).
You will work to find new ways of interpreting the data and develop appropriate visualizations to communicate findings to leadership. This includes the use of traditional Power Point reporting as well as building dashboards through Tableau, PowerBI or similar solutions to synthesize results into digestible insights.
You will be influencing how the portfolio of analytics solutions will look like and proactively suggest analysis to be turned into self-serve products. You will play an important role in the development of new dashboards as well as the enhancement of existing products that support Firm/Cell leadership, CSTs and Client Activation teams.
You will be catering to a variety of ad-hoc requests that involve data pulls and modeling. You will do explorative data analysis, summarize data, establish comparisons, do internal benchmarking, and newly develop metrics for regular reporting.
You will have the ownership of one or more self-serve products. You will become the first alert, managing end-users, custom requests, and enhancement initiatives for key products in the Client Activation Analytics space. In this role you will interact frequently with leaders in Client Activation across the firm.
You will be contributing to the migration of previously build data flows in Alteryx to the new firm-approved tools (e.g., Knime, AWS Glue, Snowflake).
You will be periodically reviewing and improving data quality. You will identify weaknesses or discrepancies in the team’s data sources and provide suggestions for improvement.
You will be interfacing with the Data Engineering team in Client Activation Analytics. You will play an important role in the development of our data structure providing input into the data transformation and staging process, covering data from multiple functions in the firm (e.g. Client data, Finance data, People data,…) .
Over time you will take on increased responsibility to communicate directly with senior leaders of the firm to explain existing tools, specific findings and to provide ad-hoc support.
You’ll be part of our McKinsey’s Client Activation Analytics Team in one of our multiple locations which uses innovative analytics solutions to generate insights from various data sources and to improve decision making. We enable the firm’s efforts to build a growth strategy, identifying opportunities, optimizing coverage and tracking the firm’s performance. We deliver these insights to Firm Leadership, Cell Managing Partners and CST Leaders through a mix exploratory ad-hoc analysis and a set of scalable self-serve products. You will be collaborating closely colleagues in the broader Client Activation space like Competitive Intelligence, Client Feedback, Market insights and a data stewardship team. You will also learn about People analytics and Finance data.
In this role you will join forces with a team of data engineers and data scientists under the direct supervision of a dedicated manager who will guide and support you in your daily work and in your development.

Your background:
1+ years of relevant professional Data and Analytics experience
A degree in Industrial Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Economics or related field that combines knowledge about business processes with analytical skills
Experience with Tableau, PowerBI or similar tools is required
The candidate must have SQL knowledge to query data including joining multiple data tables, summarizing data and calculating new fields; basic knowledge in other languages is a plus
Experience visualizing data in different formats (dashboards, ppts, etc) and support data-driven story-telling
Ability to syndicate findings, explain analysis and underlying data in a structured, clear manner to both, audiences with knowledge of the data sources as well as those unfamiliar with them
Some experience with statistical and forecasting methods (e.g., multivariate regression) is a plus
High personal integrity, discretion and confidentiality given the nature of the insights handled
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable to test new ideas or build things from scratch
