About the role
The DESIM (D. E. Shaw Investment Management) group at D. E. Shaw and Co. is looking for a competent contributor to join our Tech Ops team. This team works with our New York counterparts to support a wide variety of tools and financial datasets for the DESIM group. We are looking to hire an Associate/Member, Tech Ops for the role of Operations in the DESIM team, based out of Hyderabad.
Responsibilities:
You will provide day-to-day technical operations support for production systems. You will monitor, triage, and resolve issues quickly — reviewing logs, analyzing errors, and debugging across application, data, and system layers — while supporting software deployments and configuration changes with minimal impact to users and the business. You will take ownership of issues end-to-end and use excellent cross-functional communication skills to coordinate with engineering, infrastructure, business users, and external partners during critical incidents, including third-party data vendors. You will document issues, actions, and outcomes clearly for broader team awareness. You will also bring hands-on scripting ability, with familiarity using LLMs or AI-assisted tools, to automate repetitive manual tasks, reduce operational toil, and improve operational efficiency.
Who we're looking for:
The ideal candidate should hold-
Basic qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
3 to 5 years of experience in technical operations, production support, or L2/L3 application support for business-critical systems
Experience working in Linux/Unix environments
Hands-on experience with shell scripting
Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java
Experience using source control tools such as Gi
Exposure to CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and automation tools is a plus
Solid understanding of incident management, root cause analysis, and production support best practices
Exceptional software debugging skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
Preferred qualifications:
Prior experience in the finance domain
