Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and develop a team of software engineers. Perform talent reviews, ensure growth opportunities exist for top talent, and build a healthy team culture.
Exercise the technical judgment and decision-making expected of staff-level engineers to guide system architecture and design. Ensure technical decisions are made promptly and risks are proactively managed to unblock engineers.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders from horizontal compliance teams and within Google Cloud Storage (GCS) to develop new capabilities, publish multi-year roadmaps, and improve the quality and reliability of existing solutions.
Manage the compliance infrastructure for GCS, ensuring robustness, scalability, and reliability while actively addressing technical debt.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Go, JavaScript).
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects.
3 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Proven ability to demonstrate staff-level technical judgement and decision-making for large-scale back-end systems.
Excellent working proficiency, communication skills, and experience managing cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable products and services for external clients.
Experience with large-scale backend server infrastructure (e.g., Monarch, Spanner, etc.).
