What you will do:
You will liaison with local office for payroll inputs - new joiner/terminations/LOA/salary revisions and update the payroll software with the relevant changes for the payroll cycle.
You will ensure all employee benefits (if any) are taken care of and incorporate any changes with regards to banking information, mailing address, tax details, etc. You will review all applicable statutory deductions - retirement plans, taxes etc. and any review of offshore instructions.
You will generate relevant reports - pay register, variance report, etc. prior to payroll release and review internally. You will also coordinate payroll release with local office and back up payroll after payroll has been released. Responding promptly to payroll e-mail queries will be part of your duties as well.
You will file statutory reports and remittance of dues with regards to income tax and any other applicable statutory liabilities as well as enter compensation details - accounting of payroll cost. You will ensure confidentiality with regards to compensation details.
You will be based in our Chennai (India) office as part of our Global Payroll team, which is part of our Global Finance & Accounts service line. This group processes payroll of the firm members.

Your background:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related fields preferred
2+ years of experience in payroll for India geography
Strong knowledge of accounting principles
Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
