What you will do:
You will be responsible for supporting the execution of a full range of professional development and staffing activities for a pool of 600+ consultants on a daily basis. This needs to be done in collaboration with multiple stakeholders in the office’s People team and other related teams within the local and global network of the firm.

In your role you will be responsible for managing the full range of staffing and talent management activities on a daily basis. These would include developing and facilitating professional development conversations, providing coaching and guidance on appropriate assignments, skill development, career progression and other topics as they arise. You will be taking ownership for one of the key people cohorts within the office and expected to continually play an “ear to the ground” role on people issues, monitor and raise emerging people issues for your cohort with the office leadership and drive associated problem solving and program development as needed.
Additionally, you will provide thought leadership on developing and implementing key people initiatives and be willing to innovate as required. This will involve, recommending, managing and executing personnel practices as needed e.g., flexibility, exit/leave processes, mobility as well as building a strong, trust-based relationship with partners. You will build strong relationships with the local and global firm network of professional development colleagues to facilitate timely information sharing, cross-office mobility opportunities, best practice exchange, etc.
You will also be involved in conducting analyses, regularly updating relevant databases and facilitating generation of key development and staffing metrics for the local office leadership.
You will be working as a member of McKinsey & Co India’s People Team in our office in Delhi, Gurugram or Mumbai. We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to make a difference to the development and experience of the India office consultants.

Your background:
6+ years of relevant experience in professional development and/or human resources or experience within a professional services firm either as a consultant or within an HR/People role
Masters’ degree in human resources
Strong interest in people development and talent management
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) at all levels strong influencing capabilities
Intrinsic operational leadership skills, prioritizing strategic initiatives and complete ownership of workstreams
Comfort with numbers, analysis and systems
Non-hierarchical approach and ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders
Capable of working under pressure and in situations involving conflict
Strong integrity, maturity and fairness in dealing with people and confidential information
Ability to adhere to the highest process standards and stand firm on decisions
Experience and confidence in using IT-based systems and tools; must be proficient in using MS-Excel and have sound analytical abilities
